Steamed Shark?!?!

So I have a new appliance and, let me tell you, I am very excited. Things are getting pretty steamy around here!

Last year, we ripped every single fiber of carpet out of our house and had porcelain tile laid. Over the years, I have had more carpets spilled on, peed on, vomited on, play-dohed on, nail polished on (you get the idea) by the kids and dogs than I care to remember so I was very happy to just get rid of it all. The tile is so easy to maintain and it's fairly indestructible. Dog puke no longer scares me. And the added bonus, especially in Phoenix where the temperatures frequently reach Face of the Sun, is it keeps the house cooler. This past summer was so much more pleasant than it's ever been -- at least inside our house.

We've bought several dust mops and microfiber wet mops to go over the tile and they work pretty darn good. But I've seen the ads for steam mops and I've read about them online and I really, really wanted one. We had $50 in rewards from Best Buy and they had the Shark Steam Mop for $59.99. Yeah, baby, for $9.99 and tax I was out the door. Believe me, I do not get excited about house work but this time, in a twisted way, I kinda was.

This thing is so light and easy to use, I hardly even had to read the directions. You don't use floor cleaners, just tap water.

It heats up in 30 seconds! I took a picture of it steaming as I was mopping. I don't think the picture does it justice but here you are ...

I breezed through the house, mopping and disinfecting as I went. Woo hoo! And, believe me, we have plenty of tile to cover ...

*sigh* Nice and clean!

This is not a paid product endorsement. I just happen to love this thing and would happily pay full price for one.

I hear ya! I got a dyson last year and I can't stop loving it. Best vacuum ever, though I'd kill for tile or wood. I hate carpet too.

ooohhh...i've been thinking about one of those.

my only question: do you have to vacuum or sweep first?

Unfortunately, you do have to vacuum, sweep or dust mop first or else you're just making mud.

How exciting! When we built our house we did not put in any carpet for all those reasons you listed. Unfortunately, cancer bills stuck us back in a rental and carpet. :( But I love your new toy! And the floors look GREAT!

I girlfriend I couldnt' agree more! These sharks are wonderful! I am with you on the carpet thing! I hate it and won't ever have it again! We have hardwoods and stained concrete. If we ever move again we will do tile like you and will always have a shark in our closet :)

My mom just got one too but she has a cleaning lady so I don't know if she knows what a gift she gave her!! LOL
