Wine Tasting at Javelina Leap

After we went to Jerome, Arizona, on Sunday (see yesterday's post), we rolled down the road to visit the
Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery in Cornville near Sedona.
They've won awards -
Sedona 2009 Readers' Choice Best Wine Tasting ...
The vineyard sits on a 10-acre estate in Page Valley
on the slopes of a volcanic mountain.
We had been invited for a wine tasting by one of Hubby's friends and it was so much fun. This is my tasting glass of sauvignon blanc, which is a bottle we purchased to take home and enjoy.
Here are some photos around the tasting room and winery ...
A wine display ...
Grape stuffed javelinas ...
Beautiful tin ceiling and chandelier ...
Wine bottle filler and corker ...
Sign in the chilled wine cellar ...
Barrels of wine ...
Fermenting vats ...
Grape crushing machine ...
Little metal javelinas ...
This is called the petting zoo
where you can get an up close look at grapevines ...
Baby grapes on the vine ...
Look at this beautifully welcoming picnic spot ...
Our Javelina Leap glasses and bottle of sauvignon blanc ...
As we were leaving the winery, we spoke to this cute couple who were on vacation. The woman was a Coast Guard Lieutenant who actually drives ships. Her sweetie (don't know if he was a husband or boyfriend) said that he asks her all the time for
permission to come aboard. She laughed and said she tells him permission denied. They were funny and adorable!

If you're going to Sedona or Jerome or Cottonwood, stop and visit Javelina Leap. The tasting room is open every day of the week from 11 am to 5 pm.

Ummm...those grape stuffed javelinas kinda creeped me out. :)
I've been trying to convince my dad for years to buy a vineyard but so far it's a no go. I'll keep working on it.

First of all, thank you for your wise words on my blog. You hit the nail on the head, my friend. I can only hope and pray for my little guy.

And secondly, oh child, you are right up my alley. My husband and I collect wine and try to head up to the Wine Country at least twice a year. We live down in Florida. Sonoma County is our favorite. We've never been to this winery, but we're definitely going to check it out next time. Thanks for highlighting it.

I love getting the inside scoop on how things are made - great pictures! The process is fascinating...but it is funnier when "Lucy" squishes them with her feet! ;)

How fun.

I'm weird and I don't like wine though. A few people tell me I'd probably like the sweeter wines but I've never tried it.
